Mary
L. Byrne began writing in the third grade at eight years old.
She has written many short stories, composed a report on The
Many Faces of Child Abuse, and various articles, besides publishing
a childrens book titled Only Children Hear Me in
2010.
Only
Children Hear Me, written in the voice of a dog who addresses
serious illness, race, adoption, disability, bullying, and abuse.
Jake encourages children throughout the book to talk to a trusted
adult if they have problems or someone is abusing them.
Mary
spent many years working in Property Management and Health Care,
dedicating her time to improving others lives. All of her
writing contains essential messages for the reader.
She
has written Two Sides of the Mirror to educate people who
have never been on the receiving end of the pain produced through
racism and bigotry. She awoke with its title in her mind four
years ago. Greg Hastings, its main character, discriminates against
numerous people until he experiences a transformation. Leaving
him remorseful for his actions as he develops a powerful conscience.
He then spends his life bringing together all races as he expounds,
We are all more alike than we are different.
Most
of her writing is Fiction with a True to Life overtone.
The exception being The Many Faces of Child Abuse, which
is painfully fact.
The
majority of her articles are resounding. She also thoroughly enjoys
writing comical short pieces about life experiences.
Accounting Today published her article Tax Season
from a Spouse's Perspective.
Fishing,
from the Fishs Perspective, is still avoiding the
hook.
Marys
journey has taken her through abuse and cancer, which has encouraged
her to help other survivors.
As
a long-time speaker, she has addressed audiences on blood cancer
treatment and cancer survival issues. She also currently speaks
on sexual assault, prevention, and treatment, being a co-founder
and co-owner of Survivors Speak RI, LLC.
